Globalisation essay 1

Differences between countries become less evident each year. Nowadays, all over the world people share the same fashions, advertising, brands, eating habits and TV channels. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages of this?
It is undoubtedly the case that the world today has become a global village. One of the effects of this is that increasingly people in all corners of the world are exposed to similar services and products and adopt similar habits. My view is that this is largely a beneficial process and in this essay I will explain why.
The first point to make is that there are some downsides to this process of cultural globalisation, but these are relatively minor. The most significant of these disadvantages is that it can weaken national culture and traditions. For example, if people watch films and television programmes produced in the United States, sometimes they adopt aspects of the lifestyle of the American characters they see on television. Typically, however, this only affects minor details such as clothing and does not seriously threaten national identity.
When we turn to the other side of the argument, there are two major points to make in favour of this process. The first of these is that the more we share habits, products and services, the better we understand each other and this reduces prejudice against other nations. The other point relates to modernity. It is a sign of progress in a society that people no longer are restricted to brands and advertisements from their own society but are able to access more international goods. If, for example, there were unable to drink Coca Cola or wear Nike, then that would mean their society was not part of the international community.
In conclusion, I understand the point of view of people who worry about cultural globalisation because it is a threat to national traditions. However, this is outweighed by its positive impact on international understanding and the fact that it represents progress within a society.

Globalisation essay 2

Even though globalization affects the world’s economies in a very positive way, its negative side should not be forgotten. Discuss.

Globalization is such a commonly used term in the twentiethcentury. It simply means that the world has become integrated economically, socially, politically and culturally through the advances of technology, transportation and communication. It is undeniable that globalization has resulted in both positive and negative effects which must be addressed accordingly.

To begin with, globalization has contributed to the world’s economies in many beneficial ways. The advances in science and technology have allowed businesses to easily cross over territorial boundary lines. Consequently, companies tend to become more productive and competitive thereby raising the quality of goods, services and the world’s living standard.

Secondly, several companies from the more developed countries have already ventured to establish foreign operations or branches to take advantage of the low cost of labor in the poorer countries. This kind of business activity will provide more influx of cash or investment funds into the less developed countries.

However, one cannot deny the negative effects which havederived from globalization. One crucial social aspect is the risk and danger of epidemic diseases which can easily be spread as the transportation becomes easier and faster in today’s advanced society. This is evidenced in the recent birds flu disease which has infected most Asian countries over a short period of time.

As large corporations invest or take over many offshore businesses, a modern form of colonization will also evolve which may pose certain power pressure on the local governments of the less developed countries. Unemployment rates in the more developed regions such as Europe may also escalate as corporations choose to outsource to the cheaper work force from Asian countries.

In conclusion. I like to reiterate that globalization is inevitable and we must urge individuals, companies and governments to use a more balanced approach by taking the appropriate steps to deal with matters relating to the financial or economical gains verses the social, political or ecological concerns of the world.

The length of this essay is  318 words.
Otherwise (except for some minor grammatical errors) it is a very nice work.
It covers the task, has the right structure, the paragraphs are coherent and are logically connected by elegantly used linking words, the structure of sentences is fine and so is the vocabulary.

Globalisation essay 3

Even though globalization affects the world’s economies in a positive way, its negative side should not be forgotten. Discuss.

In the present age, globalization is playing an increasingly important role in our lives. But in the meantime whether it is a blessing or a curse has sparked a heated debate. Some people argue that globalization has a fundamentally beneficial influence on our lives, while many others contend that it has a detrimental effect as well.

A convincing argument can be made about globalization not only playing a pivotal role in the development of technology and economy, but also promoting the cultural exchange between different countries. To start with, it is the globalization that impelled many corporate to become international groups, thereby making a contribution to the local technology and employment. Specifically, when a multinational group establish a factory in a developing country, the new equipment, the new management skills and the job vacancies are all in the best interest of the local society. Moreover, people worldwide can get to know each other better through globalization. It is easy to see that more and more Hollywood blockbusters show cultures different from American, some recent examples are ‘Kungfu Panda’ and ‘The Mummy’.

Admittedly, the profit driven side of globalization has severely affected young people. Today, in the metropolises in different countries, it is very common to see teenagers wearing NIKE T-shirts and Adidas footwear, playing Hip-Hop music on Apple iPods and eating at KFC. The culture that took a thousand years to form just seems similar in these cities; it seems as though you can only distinguish them by their language. Meanwhile, in some developing countries, sweat workshops are always a concerning issue. For instance, reports show that some teenagers employed by NIKE’s contractors work in smelly factories over 14 hours a day, but are only paid fifty cents per hour.

To sum up, I would concede that globalization does come with some adverse effects. Despite that fact, benefits created by it far outweigh the disadvantages. Overall, I am convinced that we should further promote globalization and meanwhile the local government should take measures to combat culture assimilation and sweat workshops.

Globalisation essay 4

Even though globalization affects the world’s economies in a positive way,
its negative side should not be forgotten. Discuss.

However globalization promotes worldwide economies positively, the governments should be paid attention to its negative aspects. While it is argued that globalization causes detrimental results, I believe that it produces great breakthroughs though authorities should take care about harmful outcomes of globalizing.
Globalization has a beneficial influence on our lives. Globalization develops local economies. So, it helps nations to decline an unemployment rate and raise economic growth. Furthermore, globalized economy advances technology. For example, when a multinational company establishes a factory in a developing country, the new equipment, the new management skills and job vacancies are all in the best interest of the local society. Moreover, globalization has transformed world into global village. As a result, people all over the world can communicate together easier than the past by internet and satellite TV.
On the other hand, nobody can deny the devastating consequences of globalization. One of crucial side is cultural shock. Worldwide networks and televisions have severely affected young people. These facilities have escalated cultural differences and generation gaps. For instance, when young aged persons watch popular superstars like singers, actors, actresses etc., on satellite channels. They imitate their behaviors, clothes, etc., that it leads to misbehaviors among adolescents. In addition, another critical impact of globalizing is the danger of epidemic diseases which can easily spread because of faster transportation and increasing in number of tourists. This statement is proved in the recent bird's flu disease which has infected most Asian countries over a short period of time.
In conclusion, although globalization has sparked a heated debate in recent decades whether it is a blessing or a curse, I believe that globalization is playing an increasingly useful role in today's communities but we should not ignore destructive side effects of globalization. As a matter of fact, impoverished nations should provide required infrastructures and benchmark successful developing countries such as Brazil and china in order to decrease the disadvantages of globalization.

Globalisation essay 5

Even though globalization affects the world’s economies in a positive way,
its negative side should not be forgotten. Discuss.

Mixed opinions exist among people in relation to how globalisation influences the economies of the world. Some argue that it is evident that globalisation has brought dramatic economic growths and more employment opportunities around the world, particularly in the developing countries. However, there are criticises raised to remind people of negative impacts that are caused by globalisation.

Economy and employment have been thriving in some developing countries for the last 30 years since globalisation first formed its concept. Countries, such as China, India, and South Africa, which had once struggled with economic developments, are largely affected when most giant international corporations moved to nations where tax rates are lower and labour rates are cheaper. This particular wave has created enormous new businesses in less developed countries. Therefore, both economics and employments have been promoted significantly by globalisation.
However, some economists and sociologists believe that globalisation has not created jobs globally; rather, it simply shifted employment opportunities from developed countries to developing countries. As a result, when China is experiencing high job growth, The United States, on the other hand, is suffering from high unemployment rate.
They also claim that globalisation encourages dependency on other countries so that if one country’s economy collapses, it is very likely that other countries’ economies will be damaged as well. The 2008 global economic crisis had well demonstrated how this dependent relationship worked very negatively among countries during the crisis.

In conclusion, globalisation plays a major role in pushing economic and employment developments forward in developing countries; however, evidences have suggested that it has negative impacts on industrialised countries in terms of economic and labour market growths. Moreover, the unhealthy dependence among countries is another concern in relation to globalisation.

Globalisation essay 6

Even though globalization affects the world’s economies in a positive way,
its negative side should not be forgotten. Discuss.

Globalization has benefited most of the countries. However, everything has two sides, globalization may also have disadvantages. In this essay, I will discuss both the pros and cons of globalization in today's world.
First of all, globalization has greatly influenced the world's economy in many positive ways.  Most of the businesses are becoming increasingly international. Globalization allows a free trade practice. With the unlimited export of goods, the market of a country will get larger.  The unlimited import will also allow citizens to have access to imported products.  Furthermore, with foreign investments in a country, a rise in employment will follow.  No one can deny that the positive aspects of globalization will help the countries' economy to prosper.  Moreover, if more people will be employed, this could result to a low poverty rate in the developing countries, like the Philippines.
On the other end of spectrum, globalization may also harm business industry of other countries that cannot compete as much versus the multinational companies. Thus, small business and medium scale establishments may have to close down.  As a result, globalization can also lead to unemployment and exploitation. Followed by this, other companies may move to other countries where labour is cheap. Because of the globalization, the traditional way of life and simplicity are getting washed away and people in developing countries are mimicking the western cultures which might lead to a devastating situation on a countries heritage and tradition. The local made products are being replaced by the international brands and that has a very negative and long term effects on a countries business growth.
In conclusion, I believe that globalization as a concept has noble intensions and is beneficial to countries that have developed fully and are ready to compete in the world market. Nevertheless, governments and companies should use a fair approach by taking appropriate steps for the country to become ready and to engage in a free trade economy around the world.

Globalisation essay 7

Richer countries should help the poor. Discuss.

Improvements in health, education and trade are essential for the development of poorer nations. However, the governments of richer nations should take more responsibility for helping the poorer nations in such areas.

Today’s world has been divided into developing and industrialised countries which the main difference between them is the amount of money that governments apply in important sectors such as education, health and commerce. Most of the poorer nations are buried in debts as a result of their unbalanced finances which are reflect in a failed health care, an unstructured education system and a weak international trade. This vicious cycle will continue indefinitely unless wealthier nations show interest in minimizing the worldwide economic differences, as well as taking more responsibility for assisting less fortunate countries.

Most of the African countries live in sub-human conditions because of the extreme poverty, upheaval, hunger, disease, unemployment, lack of education and both inexperienced and corrupt administrations. The devastating consequences of the AIDS epidemic in those countries could improve if the infected population were to receive free drugs to control the disease, have access to health professionals and get information on how to prevent its spread. But this can only be achieved through international help programs in which leaders of the world’s richest countries donate medicine and also send doctors and nurses to treat and educate those in need.

Moreover, most of the poor countries rely on selling agricultural products and raw materials to rich nations and buying industrialized products from them resulting in a huge financial deficit. Consequently, they borrow a significant amount of money from the World Bank to try to improve their broken economies, but sometimes the money disappears with no significant changes and they cannot even pay the interest to the bank. Regarding this issue, last year the G8, which is comprised of leaders of the eight richest nations, decided to forgive billions of dollars worth of debt owed by the world’s poorest nations. In addition, they developed adequate loan programs to financially assist those countries.

In conclusion, leaders of the industrialised countries play an indispensable role in assisting developing nations in dealing with essential areas such as health, education and trade. Also, their aid is the key to breaking the vicious cycle, which results in poverty and death.
